CARTOON JOURNO COVERS COMRADES TO CONGO FOR KIDS' NEWS

Sipho is a journo who lives one ama-a-a-a-zing life!

He's just walked the route of the Comrades Marathon, ahead of the June 3 downhill race.

But since then he's headed off to the eastern DRC, where guerrillas are clashing with government forces close to the forest homes of endangered mountain gorillas. He's hoping for an exclusive with the rebel leader known as the "Terminator" who is wanted for war crimes. Failing that, Sipho will settle for confirming whether or not Human Rights Watch's claim that the "Terminator" is using child soldiers is true, or not.

This year Sipho has also sneaked into the besieged Syrian city of Homs and covered the run-up to Senegal's election.

He loves his job. He'll drop everything at any time to cover any story, anywhere in the world. He's a role model for young South Africans.

Sipho is in fact a cartoon figure who appears every Monday on www.learnthenews.com, a FREE education publication that presents news in language primary school children can easily read and understand. With each of his stories comes a worksheet that can be used for homework or in the classroom.
